“You don’t have to know everything. You just have to be willing to learn”

Activism doesn’t only happen on a protest march. Sometimes it happens in a workplace, a classroom, a conversation with a friend or even online.
That’s the thinking behind the launch of my new course, Everyday Pride LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Allyship: a passion project I’ve developed into a practical form of digital and educational activism.
The course is launching initially through InCademy, with plans to make Everyday Pride available across additional platforms as it grows.
I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with content designers in the UK and Australia to bring the course to life. I wrote the training content and video scripts, shaped the visual content and worked closely with the designers throughout the development process, including sign-off on the final layout and learner experience. I also collaborated with Includability, where I’m an Ambassador and Official Inclusion Partner Expert, whose focus on creating more inclusive workplaces aligns closely with what I wanted Everyday Pride to achieve.
My own work takes many forms. I’m an LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Specialist, trainer, facilitator, coach, speaker, Pride host and interviewer. Whatever hat I’m wearing, there’s a common thread: positively spotlighting our community and helping people understand the experiences and challenges LGBTQIA+ people continue to face.
I know there are lots of people who genuinely want to be allies but don’t always know where to start. They may worry about saying the wrong thing, lack confidence, or simply haven’t had the opportunity to learn.
That’s where Everyday Pride comes in.
I wanted to create something visually appealing, informative and engaging, with video tutorials and knowledge checks but also something with personality. Life can feel heavy, and when something feels heavy, people can be less likely to engage. I wanted learners to understand the seriousness of the issues while still having a relaxed, welcoming experience.
Because LGBTQIA+ people still experience discrimination and exclusion in workplaces and beyond. Creating safe spaces matters because everyone deserves the opportunity to feel that they belong and can thrive.
I also wanted to move away from an “us and them” approach. It’s easy to be heard inside an echo chamber, surrounded by people who already agree with you. But I believe education, empathy, understanding and respect can create a different conversation.
Allyship isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being open to learning, understanding experiences different from our own and turning good intentions into meaningful action.
That’s why I called it Everyday Pride.
Because allyship shouldn’t just appear during Pride Month. It’s about the everyday choices we make, how we communicate, what we challenge, who we listen to and the environments we help create.
You don’t have to know everything. You just have to be willing to learn.
Everyday Pride launches on 14 September. It will be available here: incademy.co.uk/course/everyday-pride-lgbtqia-inclusion-and-allyship
