Queer favourite and Hollywood actor Sarah Paulson is never far from her next project—she’s set to star in HULU horror thriller Dust, which begins production this month. The American Horror Story and Ratched star has never publicly labelled her sexuality and lives happily label-free. DIVA takes a look at Sarah Paulson’s dating history, discovering the lucky ones that have stolen her heart!
Holland Taylor, 2015 – present
Sarah has been with her current partner, actor and playwright Holland Taylor since 2015, although they’d known each other for many years prior to getting together. Holland is known for her roles in Legally Blonde and ABC’s The Practice, for which she won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The relationship grabbed plenty of headlines when first announced, putting the spotlight on their 32-year age gap. Paulson called out the media on this in 2020, telling The Guardian, “I think people are fascinated by it, because it’s so not typical. Except for if you look around at plenty of well-known or recognisable couples, when they’re heterosexual couples, it just runs rampant, and I don’t see anybody becoming obsessed by those relationships.”
Sarah last posted about her partner Holland in April this year, calling her the love of her life.
Cherry Jones, 2004-2009
Prior to Holland Taylor, Sarah Paulson dated fellow actress Cherry Jones, from 2004-2009. The actor, who’s now married to filmmaker Sophie Huber, is best-known for her roles in the movies The Village, Signs and The Perfect Storm. Sarah and Cherry were seen kissing onscreen at the 2005 Tony Awards, which Paulson declared to NOTOFU as the moment she was “outed” in public. The pair amicably ended their relationship in 2009, after five years together.

A less-known detail about Sarah Paulson is her past relationship and engagement to American actor, playwright and screenwriter, Tracy Letts. The dates of their relationship are a little hazy, but it took place when Sarah Paulson was in her 20s. Tracy Letts is now married to American actress Carrie Coon, with whom he has two children.
Sarah seems incredibly happy seven years into her relationship with partner Holland Taylor. After seeing Holland perform in the play, Ann, in California in April, Sarah said on Instagram that, “to be inspired by the artistry of the person you share your life with, is the most glorious thing in this world”.
