When the book-to-screen adaptation of Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper first came out in 2022, fans around the world immediately fell in love with the show. From inspiring queer youth to come out to their loved ones to being praised in the House of Commons for itslife-saving trans representation, the show has undeniably had a massive impact.

Ever since it was announced that the series would be concluded with a feature-length film, giving fans a final (and very emotional) goodbye to these characters, we’ve been eagerly waiting for a release date. And today, to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the show, Netflix has announced that the film will be coming out on 17 July. The streaming platform also shared a BTS image of the iconic cast together on set.

Kit Connor, Joe Locke, William Gao, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood, Leila Khan, and former DIVA cover stars Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell will all be starring in the film.

Titled Heartstopper Forever, the film’s synopsis reads: “Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?”

If this film is anything like the previous three seasons, you’ll want to prepare your tissues. You’ll cry, you’ll laugh, your heart will be soothed.

Heartstopper Forever will be coming to Netflix on 17 July 2026.
