Here at DIVA, we celebrate and swoon over butches all year round, but to mark this year’s Butch Appreciation Day, we’re spotlighting some of the butches, mascs and studs who have been making waves this year.

Fortune Feimster

We loved seeing this comedian, actor and podcaster share the screen with trans ally Will Ferrell in the new Netflix show The Hawk. More Fortune on our screens? Yes please!

Joy Oladokun

We’re counting down the days until we can listen to this masc-presenting gender non-conforming artist’s new album, Hope Is A Heavy Thing.

kwn

This list would be incomplete without this rising queer star. She’s gone from strength to strength this year.

Kate Moennig

We loved having Kate back on the cover of our magazine this year in our June/July issue. We also loved seeing sapphics gather for a Shane lookalike contest, which we covered in our August/September issue.

Jessica Betts

We’re always crushing on this musician. Year after year, she and wife Niecy Nash-Betts continue to offer up unapologetic Black queer love in the spotlight.

Towa Bird

How many times have we watched this music video? Yes…

Searching for a new style icon? Look no further than TikToker River (they/them). With countless incredible butch fits and a ton of
relatable content, River is providing brilliant representation for Lao butches everywhere.

Emma D’Arcy

2026 marks another year of us swooning over Emma during press interviews for House Of The Dragon. We can’t get enough of them.

Horse

We’re still thinking about Horse’s epic performance at this year’s DIVA Awards

Val McDermid

She’s the queen of crime (and our hearts). We loved featuring her in our Dyke Issue earlier this year.

Joelle Taylor

We can’t get enough of this butch icon. This year Joelle has been touring festivals, promoting her book Maryville. We also featured her beautiful queer love story in our U-Haul Issue.

Tabs Benjamin

The creator behind the iconic Butch, Please! has continued to create safe spaces for butches and butch appreciators this year.

The cast of I Kissed A Girl season 2

We loved that this instalment of the show offered up some masc visibility with the likes of Blessing, Elise, Ashlea, Renee and Almayra.

For our August/September issue, we asked you to tell us about your top butch celeb crushes. Your winners were: Lea DeLaria, k.d. lang, Lena Waithe, Jen Brister and Tig Notaro)

Be sure to get your hands on a copy for even more great butch content.
