INTERVIEW BY ELLA GAUCI, IMAGES BY KATE ROMERO
When The L Word hit screens in 2004, it changed the lives of sapphics around the world. Shane and Alice, played by Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey, respectively, became fan favourites. Off screen, the two have been firm friends ever since. From launching their podcast, PANTS, to penning their joint-memoir So Gay For You, the duo have gone from strength to strength. And now their memoir is being adapted for the screen, and the icons are back on the cover of our magazine, this time for their first joint cover. Here’s your teaser of what Kate had to say for our exclusive interview.
Kate Moennig on…
The L Word’s legacy: “It’s the greatest compliment when the work you’ve done is acknowledged on a global scale”
What their younger selves would’ve thought of the memoir: “They’d be impressed we actually wrote a book”
The secret to a long friendship: “We approach things from two different directions, but wind up in the same place”
