After keeping fans guessing for weeks, Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have finally confirmed that they are in fact en-gay-ed! In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, the sporting stars finally put the rumours the rest about whether they had decided to tie the knot.
Over the past few weeks, Sam and Kristie have been keeping fans on their toes with a number of cryptic Instagram posts showcasing their engagement rings. However, the pair neither confirmed nor denied these rumours, leaving football fans everywhere with a puzzle to work out.
The Matildas striker, Sam Kerr, revealed in the interview with PEOPLE magazine that Kristie has “just been everything” to her since the start of their relationship in 2020. “[She’s] my biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain all, all of my crazy antics,” Sam continued.
In an interview with GAFFER in 2022, the pair revealed the struggles they had faced in a long-distance relationship. Sam Kerr plays for the Australia women’s national team and Chelsea FC while Kristie plays for Gotham FC and the United States national team.
“We set little milestones and we make time during the week where we’ll watch the same show and FaceTime or have dinner together or something,” Sam said in the interview about how they tackle the long-distance nature of their relationship.
We cannot wait to see the wedding pictures! Congratulations to the happy couple!
