Sarah Paulson and Pedro Pascal are both icons among the LGBTQIA community, and the world at large. Sarah is a trailblazing queer actor and has starred in a versatile array of films and TV shows from American Horror Story and Ocean’s 8 to queermas classic, Carol. And Pedro is a fierce LGBTQIA ally who has starred in Game Of Thrones, The Mandalorian and The Last Of Us. We love them both as individuals, but their friendship is truly heartwarming. Did you know these BFFs have known each other for 30 years?
In an interview with Esquire, The Last Of Us Star reflected on moving to New York in 1993 to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. It was there that he met NY local, Sarah, and he was quickly welcomed into her friendship group. The Ocean’s 8 star also revealed that “He’s talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself.” It’s clear these two besties have a lot of love and respect for each other that has grown over their 30-year friendship.
We can’t get enough of them, so join us in looking back at some of their most iconic moments…
The Renaissance World Tour
Earlier this week, Sarah’s Instagram story from Beyoncé’s show went viral. In it, followers saw the BFFs living their best lives while dancing as Beyoncé performed Black Parade. In the clip, as the camera pans to Pedro, he squeals “I am fucking dying!”

They officially accepted their roles as “Mommy” and “Daddy”
Sarah and Pedro have long since hailed as “Mommy” and “Daddy” by the internet. Near the start of this year, fans went wild when Pedro’s SNL sketch aired where Sarah appeared as a special guest so that they could both accept their fates. “Fine it’s true,” Sarah says. “He’s daddy, I’m mommy, and we’re all one happy family.”
Birthday messages
These BFFs are no strangers to showering each other with public displays of affection and words of affirmation on social media. As evidenced by the wholesome posts they’ve each made to commemorate each other’s birthday.
In 2020, Sarah shared a carousel post of images of Pedro over the years writing: “Happy Birthday @pascalispunk Long standing, always enduring, ever evolving friendships feel particularly poignant these days- Woody Harrelson, Central Park, and Fearless forever. I love you now and always. Here’s to more of all of it.”
And for Sarah’s birthday in the same year, Pedro dedicated a post to his fellow actor for her 46th birthday writing: “Dancing to Prince with this woman for more than half my life. Happy birthday you fucking goddess.”
They proudly celebrate each other
Over their decades-long friendship, both celebs have proudly been each other’s cheerleaders and celebrated each other’s successes. When Pedro made his Broadway debut by portraying Edmund in King Lear, Paulson brought a ticket to see her bestie work his magic on the stage and shared a beautiful photo of the two of them sharing a sweet moment today. She captioned it: “I love you @pascalispunk what an extraordinarily moving thing to witness your Broadway debut. I am in awe of you. ❤️”
Their red carpet interviews
The dynamic duo have had many iconic moments together on the red carpet such as this one at the SAG Awards 2016. The besties playfully bickered over who took longer to get ready for the ceremony, with Sarah saying “I was ready at his house and he was still doing things.”
