Here’s everything we know about the upcoming instalment of Gen Q

Back in June, it was announced that The L Word: Generation Q had been renewed for a highly-anticipated third season. We have since been longing for an official release date, and today, our prayers were answered. Here’s your round-up of everything we know about the upcoming season, from the release date to the guest stars and more.

When will season three be released?

A photo was posted onto the show’s Instagram account, with a sticky note on top of a heavily annotated script reading: “Streaming 11.18.2022”. Yep, that’s right, Gen Q season three will be streaming on Showtime from 18 November, 2022!

A UK release date is yet to be confirmed, but hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer to be reunited with our favourite Californian queers. I can barely contain my excitement, not when annotations such as “someone gets married?” can be seen in the snap.

Who can we expect to see in season three?

Margaret Cho, Joey Lauren Adams, Joanna Cassidy, AND KEHLANI will be guest starring in this instalment of Gen Q. Margaret will be playing herself as a guest on Alice’s talk show, Joey will take on the role of Taylor, “a salt-of-the-earth barista with a secret passion”, Joanna will appear as Tess’ mum, Patty, “a former Las Vegas showgirl now suffering with multiple sclerosis and dementia” and Kehlani will he playing Ivy “a makeup artist and young parent who heads up Alice’s glam team and falls for the wrong person”.

Showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan has said: “I’m so excited to have these icons join our sparkly cast!” Us too Marja, us too!

Deadline also announced that Jamie Clayton has been upped to series regular in her role as Tess Van De Berg. We cannot wait to see more Tess!

While an official full cast has not been announced yet, Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig will all be returning. And of course, Laurel Holloman will be returning, especially after THAT cliffhanger. We can also expect to see Jordan Hull return as Bette and Tina’s daughter Angie. Jacqueline Toboni, Rosanny Zayas and Leo Sheng are all set to return for this chapter as well. And if Sepideh Moafi and Arienne Mandi don’t return and serve up some more #Gini content, I will throw an actual tantrum.

The writers

Back in April, Marja posted to Instagram, introducing us to this season’s writing team. Look at all those smiling faces! We can’t wait to see what magic they come up with this time around.

Marja also recently posted this BTS shot of Jamie, Kate and Leisha. Sign us up for this sapphic road trip!

While I don’t usually find myself counting down the days to the colder autumn and winter months, this news has me excited for the longer nights. Bring on Gen Q S3!
