Before Sarah Waters became one of the world’s best known and most loved lesbian authors, she was already living an
extremely lesbian life. By the early 1990s Sarah was immersed in London’s queer community, hanging out at gay pubs like The Fallen Angel and browsing women’s bookshops such as Silver Moon and Sisterwrite. Three decades later and she sits down with DIVA editor-in-chief and author Roxy Bourdillon in the Royal Festival Hall cafe in London ahead of her appearance at The Coast Is Queer literary festival in October.
