Titled Reflections, the national awareness campaign will be displayed across the country

Trans+ History Week (4-10 May) is returning for its third celebration of the millennia-old history of transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse and intersex people. Taking place a year after the UK Supreme Court ruling, Trans+ History Week is back with a bold new national campaign entitled Reflections.

This new awareness campaign will give a voice to the trans+ community, running across the nation in spaces like Liverpool Central Station, Manchester’s Hotel Football, Brighton’s Churchill Square, Newcastle Haymarket, London’s Boxpark Wembley, and Edinburgh Towers. Slogans for this campaign include “In the reflections of the past, we see our strength” and “Our history runs deeper than most realise”. This powerful visual campaign is especially poignant at a time where 99% of trans+ people say UK media coverage of trans+ stories has harmed their mental health.

Marty Davies, founder and director of Trans+ History Week, said: “Trans+ history runs deep, and it runs through everything. In calm waters and rough tides, Trans+ communities have always found a way — and we will keep finding it: fighting for our dignity, our rights, our community, and our right to simply exist.”

Another key part of this year’s Trans+ History Week is collaboration with 21 trans+ creatives to author, illustrate and produce original stories for publication across the week in partnership with QueerAF. This also goes hand in hand with the return of Trans+ History Week’s workbook, now in its third year.

Alongside these projects, you can celebrate Trans+ History Week in person by attending its two flagship events in London. On Trans+ History Day (6 May), there will be a live recording of the QueerAF podcast, hosted by I Kissed A Boy’s Lars Fellows and featuring Big Brother stars Nadia Almada and Zelah Glasson. There will also be a panel discussion about the power of storytelling with Ki Griffin, Rebecca Jane Morgan, HRH Aphrodite I and Alexandra Parmar-Yee. Tickets are available now via Outsavvy.

The second event will be a comedy night and fundraiser, taking place on 8 May and featuring an all-trans+ line up. Acts include Don One, Alex Franklin and more. Tickets are available now via Outsavvy.

Now in its third year, Trans+ History Week returns at a time when trans+ people are facing an increasingly hostile and politicised landscape. It sits just a few weeks before MPs are due to scrutinise the EHRC’s revised Code of Practice in response to the UK Supreme Court ruling in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers last year.

Last year, 69 MPs signed the 2025 Early Day Motion welcoming Trans+ History Week, tabled by Labour MP Kate Osborne.

Kate Osborne, Labour MP for Jarrow and Gateshead East, said: “Trans+ people have always existed and will continue to do so, even as they endure persistent attacks on their right to exist both here and across the globe. Trans+ History Week offers us the chance to reflect on the contributions made by the trans+ community in our own shared history as human beings, and why this matters when it comes to fighting for the justice and dignity of trans people today.”
