The star was a special guest on the celebrity talent show

For fans of The Masked Singer, you’ll know that Demi Lovato (they/she) was revealed to be the powerhouse voice behind the “Anonymouse” mask. The Cool For The Summer singer was not an official contestant on the show where celebrities perform in elaborate costumes but kicked off season 10 as a special mystery guest.
In their video intro where Demi gave clues to their identity, the star said: “I started working young. But my big break came when I was able to showcase my voice.”
They continued: “When my future was looking bright from the outside, I struggled with demons on the inside. The more I pushed them down, the more I felt myself slipping away. I was trapped on a path of wrong decisions. And, eventually, I hit rock bottom.”
In their documentary Dancing With The Devil, Demi revealed the details of their drug addiction including their overdose in 2018.
After referencing this moment in their Masked Singer intro, the singer went on to say: “But that was the wake-up call I needed to finally realise I had so much more life to live. Now I’ve made it my mission to seek out joy wherever I can. And that’s exactly what I’m doing here.”
The judging panel on The Masked Singer went nuts when Demi finally took off their mask, and Jenny McCarthy even said that “there’s only a couple of that calibre” in the music industry.
Demi came out as non-binary in 2021 and has since said that they use she/her pronouns now as well.
