Sue Perkins is something of a national treasure. The British actress, broadcaster, comedian, presenter and writer has an infectious energy which can make even the most disastrous cake catastrophe seem a little bit less stressful. For years she’s brought us hilarious jokes alongside her comedy partner Mel Giedroyc.

Although she had already come out to friends and family, Sue’s ex-partner Rhona Cameron revealed their relationship on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2002.

In an interview with Time Out, Sue said: “I was already out to my parents. Rhona didn’t disclose my sexuality; I’d already done that myself. “Outing” is a very emotional phrase and I certainly didn’t feel she did that. She disclosed things about us when we’d been together that I wished she hadn’t. That’s all. So I think it’s worth correcting – it’s technically not true.”

So, who has Sue Perkins – one of Britain’s favourite comics – dated?

Emma Kennedy

Sue Perkins confirmed her relationship with writer and actor Emma Kennedy in her memoir Spectacles. Emma worked as a writer for the Mel and Sue series Late Lunch. In Sue’s memoir, she imagines coming out to her mother after she starts dating Emma including a hilarious segment where she imagines her mother saying, “Oh God, I’m in shock. I’m going into shock. I can’t believe it. I guess my initial worry is that now you’re a lesbian, you’ll have to spend the rest of your life in a fleece.”

In reality, her mother’s response was: “Is it about you being gay? Fine, well just whenever you like, no rush.”

Rhona Cameron

As we mentioned earlier, it was Scottish comedian Rhona Cameron who revealed their relationship while she was on I’m A Celeb in 2002 but we don’t know all too much about their relationship itself.

Kate Williams

After meeting on a dog walk, Sue dated artist Kate Williams for eight years before they split in 2012. In an interview with Reader’s Digest, Sue commented on the nature of their breakup: “It was quite seismic and unpleasant. I left our home in Cornwall and was renting in London, and it all felt very transitory.” The pair, however, seem to have remained friendly and no bad blood was shed.

Anna Richardson

Sue Perkins met the Naked Attraction presenter in 2011 as friends, but the pair began dating three years later. The couple dated for a whopping seven years before ending things amicably.

In an interview with the Crushed podcast earlier this year, Sue revealed that she suffers from the seven-year itch: “With me, it always ends in an exactly seven-year relationship. Yes, it’s weird. It’s between six-and-a-half and eight usually. I’m an idiot.”

“I’ve been lucky in all the relationships I’ve had but where I struggle — the final hurdle — is making something forever, maybe because I’m so frightened of it.”
