We could think of no one more suited to be our LGBT+ History Month cover star than the trailblazing activist Dr. Phyll Opoku-Gyimah. She’s the co-founder and executive director of UK Black Pride, and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Trust. We are living through a pivotal moment in LGBTQI history. Thankfully, we have Lady Phyll fighting for our rights and inspiring us all to make change.
Here’s your preview of what she had to say:
Phyll on
What a bold lesbian looks like to her…
“Being unapologetically yourself. It looks like being able to use your voice and amplify all the things that are relevant, necessary and important for you.”
Using intersectionality to fight our collective battles…
“I don’t believe our rights for equity for Black people trump gender or being queer or non-binary. It’s all part of that experience. You fight for it all.”
Being a trans ally…
“Show love. Understand that trans lives are not to be debated.”
