Strap in (or on), because this absolutely bananas show is back for a second season. It’s refreshing to see that, unlike many other queer shows that get cancelled prematurely, it’s already been renewed for a third instalment. The actors who bring these messy characters to life are the reason why it’s so bingeable. But where have you seen them before?
Malin Akerman (Margo Banks)
It’s unsurprising that Malin’s resume spans a versatile range of genres and roles across film and TV. Margo is such a complicated character to embody; you’d need to have the range that Malin evidently has. I first saw her on screen in the iconic stoner film Harold & Kumar Get The Munchies. She’s well known for her roles in Watchmen, 27 Dresses, The Final Girls and Rock Of Ages.
Brittany Snow (Sophie O’Neil)
Love musicals? Then you’ve probably loved Brittany long before she stepped into Sophie’s cowboy boots. She’s starred in both Pitch Perfect and Hairspray. I knew she’d give a gripping performance in The Hunting Wives, because I first saw her in the gruesome horror Would You Rather. My favourite Brittany roles are her portrayal of Anna Hicks in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Blair Helms in Someone Great.
Jaime Ray Newman (Callie Baskin)
From playing Monica in the staple film Catch Me If You Can to Angelina in the magical series Grimm, Jaime has been a part of many exciting films and shows. She’s been a part of gripping mini-series such as Dopesick and Little Fires Everywhere. In recent years, we’ve seen her play Mrs Satterfield in Bel-Air and Janine in Exhibiting Forgiveness.
Joyce Glenn (Monae)
While we haven’t seen much from Monae in season one, I am hoping to see more about her character in the upcoming second instalment. Joyce is known for playing Brittany in Checkmate. You may have also seen her in Family Portrait, I’m A Virgo and How To Make Anyone Fall In Love With You.
Alexandria DeBerry (Taylor)
While her career began in modelling, Alexandria has transitioned into acting, picking up some interesting roles along the way. Her CV includes films like Presence, Red Stone and 47 Hours and shows like The Act, Bad Couple and The Inspectors.
Karen Rodriguez (Deputy Wanda Salazar)
It was truly gripping to watch Wanda race against the clock to solve crimes (despite being hindered by her incompetent colleagues). I can’t wait to see more of her in the next chapter! Before playing the iconic character, she played Ivania in Chicago Fire, Erica in Swarm and Julia in Shining Girls. We also saw her portray Janet in Spider-Noir earlier this year.
Dale Dickey (Zelda Moffitt)
Zelda has been promoted to a recurring character this time around. And by the look of the season two trailer, she’s going to be upping the stakes for Margo and Sophie. Calling her acting credits impressive would be an understatement. I was first introduced to her as Martha Bozeman in True Blood; DIVAs will probably know her from Fallout, Station 19, A League Of Their Own and The X Files.
The second season of The Hunting Wives comes to Netflix on 26 November. You can watch the trailer below
