Bi moments of realisation from the defining decade that was the ’00s

BY ELLA DEVEREUX

To celebrate Bi Awareness Week we’re taking you on a whistle-stop tour of the most universal bisexual awakenings of the 2000s.

Lola in Shark Tale

What was it about a gold-digging lionfish that just made us dribble? Lola (voiced by Angelina Jolie) is sensual, confident and likes to get up close and personal with Oscar throughout Shark Tale. The added touch of villainy towards the end made us very hot under the collar.

t.A.t.U – All The Things She Said music video

Russian music duo t.A.T.u released this iconic song in 2000. The music video features two schoolgirls who fall for each other as the world looks on critically. The cutaways to scenes of them kissing and embracing in the rain undoubtedly set something off in us as bisexual teens.

Miss Honey from Matilda

Miss Honey is heralded as a Queer icon. What we would give to share a pot of tea with her in her cottagecore house.

Lady Gaga & Beyonce – Telephone music video

If it’s not the erotic prison scenes at the start, Gaga being taunted by women in their cells and then making out with prisoners in the yard, then it’s Beyonce calling her “a very bad girl” and feeding her a sandwich. Phew.

The Sims

Whether you were playing Sims 2 or Sims 3, one thing’s for sure if you were bi you were making your Sim woohoo with both men and women. Only later in life do you realise why you zoomed in on the screen when your sim was making out with everyone in the game.

Kelly, head girl of St Trinian’s

It goes without saying that Kelly (played by Gemma Arterton) was an icon. She embodied stern and sexy and had Flash (Russell Brand) on a leash. When St Trinian’s first came out, it was hard to know if you wanted to be Kelly or be with her.
