“Life is too short to put up with that unhappy relationship, a flat that you hate, or working somewhere that doesn’t respect and understand you”

For many of us, 2021 will be the year that we make new connections, expand our networks and start a search for our next big career move, perhaps in a new location.

As international travel reopens, many in the LGBTQIA+ business community will be moving. Whether to a new city, state or country (once restrictions ease), starting fresh in a new place is exciting, but can be daunting too. Making friends and connections in a new town comes easier for some people than others. While New York may feel welcoming to a Londoner or Hong Kong familiar to a Singaporean, crossing bigger barriers of culture and language aren’t always so straightforward, especially if you’re LGBTQIA+.

As an LGBTQIA+ person trying to connect in a new place, there’s always bars and dating apps to turn to when trying to make friends or romantic connections. But what about professional connections?

The myGwork Country Ambassador Programme seeks to bridge this gap. In major cities around the globe, our network of Country Ambassadors are there to welcome new arrivals, helping them to make connections, network and thrive. Every city is different, and so is its local LGBTQ+ business community – each local ambassador knows this intimately, and is there to share their insight with recent relocators.

The insight that inspired the myGwork Country Ambassador programme came from co-founder and CMO of myGwork, Adrien Gaubert. When relocating from Paris to Guangzhou early in his career, Adrien sought to make professional connections with other LGBTQIA+ professionals, but found there was nothing out there to help. Years later, running myGwork from London, Adrien & Pierre (co-founders) and the team have developed the Country Ambassador programme to offer this key service for those relocating.

From learning about the most inclusive employers in town, to finding LGBTQIA+ networking events, to tips on job-hunting in a different language, myGwork Country Ambassadors are there to help.

Whether at home or abroad, myGwork allows you to connect with other LGBTQIA+ professionals and grow your network. Find your next job with an inclusive organisation, browse global events and news, from the worlds of business and LGBTQIA+ culture. This is networking like never before. This is myGwork.
