Bi Pride UK (29 August) has kicked off Bi Visibility Month with a landmark announcement: this year’s event was not only its largest to date, but organisers believe it represented the biggest single-day gathering of bi people ever recorded globally. More than 1,400 attendees gathered at Kings Place in Kings Cross to celebrate the bi+ community.
The event featured a stellar line-up, with acclaimed comedian Jordan Gray, creator and executive producer of ITV’s hit sitcom Transactions, headlining alongside international music sensation Shaaba, whose work has been celebrated on BBC Introducing and the Amazing Pop Charts USA.
The Main Stage, hosted by political comedian drag queen Lilly Snatchdragon and Sadie Sinner the Songbird, founder of The Cocoa Butter Club and The Black Burlesque School, offered a programme of live music, comedy, poetry, and burlesque throughout the day.
Meanwhile, the I Am Proud stage hosted thought-provoking discussions spanning grassroots activism and mutual aid, intergenerational bi+ experiences, parenting, and the role of art as a catalyst for queer joy. One panel explored the realities of living in bodies that challenge societal norms, including fatphobia, disability, and transness, while another examined hedonism as an act of liberation, especially poignant in a climate of rising hate crimes and diminishing access to support for the queer community.
For Bi Pride UK, the significance of the day extended beyond attendance figures. The organisation’s mission is clear: to create spaces where the bi+ community is seen, celebrated, and placed at the centre.
