In a recent Happiest Season interview, Aubrey Plaza has revealed that her co-star, Kristen Stewart, caught Covid-19 whilst they were filming the festive rom-com in February earlier this year.
The actor who plays the ex-girlfriend Riley in the film let slip during her appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, stating that “a lot of people got sick” on set in Pittsburgh.
Aubrey said: “Covid was on our set. Kristen got sick, but we didn’t know.”
After Stephen Colbert pointed out that this was information that hadn’t been revealed before, Aubrey broke into laughter and began apologising, appearing as if she wasn’t supposed to say it.
“A lot of people got sick,” she continued. “It was the last week of February. It was that zone where people were starting to talk about coronavirus, but people were kind of laughing about it — no one understood how serious it was. I think a bunch of people on our set got sick. I didn’t, thank god.”
Aubrey also gave us her hot take regarding the Happiest Season fans that have taken to social media to express how Riley should have been the one to end up with K Stew’s character Abby. We’ve all been dying to know if Aubrey agrees…
She said: “Look, I wanted it too, OK? I’m not going to lie, I wanted it too, very badly,” she said. “But I didn’t write the thing, and I didn’t direct the thing. I just showed up, did my job and got out of there. There are some things you just don’t have control over. But I’m not giving up hope for Riley. I think she’s got a bright future ahead.”
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that a sequel is on the horizon, and let’s demand justice for Riley.
