Attention all lesbian, queer and trans+ screenbuffs! It’s that time of the month when we all get excited about LGBTQIA+ releases coming to cinemas and streaming platforms in the month ahead. Coming up, you’ll get to see what queer stories and talent you have to look forward to. You’ll definitely want to keep these flicks and shows on your radar.

X-Men ’97: Season 2

One of the most iconic examples of the found family trope, The X-Men comics have quite a queer history. It was great to see that in its first instalment, this show provided some non-binary visibility through its shapeshifting mutant Morph. LGBTQIA+ fans are excited to see what this superpowered group of outcasts get up to in this high-stakes second season.

Available to stream on Disney+ from 1 July

Summer’s Last Resort

In this brand-new Tubi original, Sophia Bush (Grey’s Anatomy) plays a free-spirited mum who invites her corny boyfriend on a trip with her high-strung teen daughter, Summer (Violet McGraw). Little do the lovebirds know, she’s secretly trying to break the couple up.

Available to stream on Tubi from 3 July

I Kissed A Girl season 2

Sapphic Summer is here! This instalment of IKAG has already been filled with many unforgettable moments. More episodes will be airing in July, official dates are TBC. We are eager to find out who might leave the show with a new boo.

A Year In London

This film introduces audiences to a sheltered Italian fashion student who finds herself in London for the first time. Sparks fly as she forms an intense and intimate bond with her mentor after they survive a violent robbery. When forced to choose between ambition and the love they’re afraid to name, what will they decide?

Coming to UK cinemas 17 July

Heartstopper Forever

After three seasons, the hugely popular Netflix show is concluding with a feature-length film. We’ve said “hi” to these characters many times throughout the show’s run, but we’re not ready to say goodbye! Suffice to say, it’s a bittersweet moment. In Heartstopper Forever, Nick and Charlie face their biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are going through their own trials and tribulations. Have the tissues at the ready for more heartstopping scenes.

Available to stream on Netflix from 17 July
