From Girls Like Girls to Lesbian Space Princess, there are lots of treats for queer viewers this Pride month
BY NIC CROSARA, IMAGE IS A STILL FROM GIRLS LIKE GIRLS
Attention all lesbian, queer and trans+ screenbuffs! It’s that time of the month when we all get excited about LGBTQIA+ releases coming to cinemas and streaming platforms in the month ahead. Coming up, you’ll get to see what queer stories and talent you have to look forward to. You’ll definitely want to keep these flicks and shows on your radar.
Lesbian Space Princess
Love sci-fi, animation and laughing so hard it builds your abs? Then you’ll love watching film festival favourite Lesbian Space Princess on the big screen. This colourful story takes place on Planet Clitopolis, where we meet Princess Saira. Upon learning that her ex has been kidnapped, she embarks on a 24-hour space adventure to rescue her. Trust me, this is one of the gayest films you’ll
ever see. You’re welcome!
Coming to UK cinemas from 19 June
Girls Like Girls
Any sapphic playlist worth its salt includes Hayley Kiyoko’s hit track Girls Like Girls. The music video went viral for a reason. It provided powerful WLW visibility and exceptional storytelling. It’s no surprise Hayley adapted it into a young adult novel in 2023. And now, Lesbian Jesus is blessing us once again, because she’s turned it into a film. Oh, and in case you missed it, the soundtrack features the likes of Tegan and Sara, Joy Oladokun and Young Miko.
Coming to cinemas from 19 June
House Of The Dragon: Season 3
The stakes couldn’t be higher when we return to the Game Of Thrones prequel. Westeros is facing an all-out war of dragons. Expect epic battles, lots of bloodshed, tears and, of course, dragonfire. DIVA faves Emma D’Arcy, Abigail Thorn and Bethany Antonia stun in this nailbiting instalment.
Available in the UK from 22 June on NOW
