After three seasons, this hugely popular Netflix show is concluding with a feature-length film. We’ve said “hi” to these characters many times throughout the show’s run, but we’re not ready to say goodbye! Suffice to say, it’s a bittersweet moment. Ever since the first series of the book-to-screen adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novels came to the streamer in 2022, fans around the world have felt seen and celebrated. The show has provided much-needed queer and trans joy, it’s helped people come out, and Yasmin Finney – who plays Elle Argent – has even been praised in the House of Commons for life-saving trans representation.

Over the years, we’ve featured the cast inside the pages of our magazine. In 2024 we had Yasmin Finney as our amazing October/November cover star, and back in 2023, Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell were the fabulous joint cover stars of our August/September issue. It will be exciting to see what this talented cast gets up to post-Heartstopper. We’re rooting for them all. But for now, we are mentally preparing the tissues and getting ready for some heartstopping scenes in the upcoming Heartstopper Forever film. One thing’s for sure, there will be butterflies.

What’s the plot of the film?

After the events of the show’s third season, Nick and Charlie are an inseparable couple. But in Heartstopper Forever, they will face their biggest challenge yet. Nick is preparing to leave for university, and Charlie is navigating life at school without Nick nearby. The realities that come with long-distance relationships begin to take their toll on the relationship. Meanwhile, their friendship group are navigating their own trials and tribulations.
