American football star Ali Krieger has posted a cryptic statement to her Instagram responding to “misinformation” about her former marriage to Ashlyn Harris. This statement followed Harris’ interview on the Naked Sports podcast on 25 November where she opened up about her experience in their marriage.

Harris and Krieger announced their divorce last year, and the split was immediately shrouded in controversy with allegations that Harris had been unfaithful. Harris subsequently squashed these rumours. In her Naked Sports interview, Harris spoke about the toll the online frenzy surrounding their split had put on her mental health as well as revealing that the pair had dealt with intimacy issues in their relationship.

Krieger has also broken her silence on their marriage in her new Instagram statement. She wrote: “I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support I’ve received this last year. However, amidst this warmth, I’ve also had to confront a wave of dishonesty and misinformation regarding my marriage and personal life. While I’m not yet prepared to make a formal statement, I feel compelled to address this currently to prevent further distortion of the truth.”

“Above all else, my unwavering priority remains the protection and well-being of my children. I promise to share more when my heart feels ready. In this vulnerable time, I humbly ask for privacy and understanding from all involved, as I grapple with the profound changes in my personal life.”

Both Harris and Krieger have entered new relationships since the split. Harris has been open about her relationship with One Tree Hill actor Sophia Bush. Krieger also recently appeared to hard launch her new partner, Scottish soccer player Jen Beattie. In sapphic style, Beattie posted a sweet picture of the pair together with the caption: “Thankful for you. Happy Thanksgiving my love @alikrieger.”
