A League Of Their Own’s Abbi Jacobson and Ted Lasso’s Jodi Balfour are officially married. But before we dive into all the details of their big day, let’s take a moment to look back on how they got here.
The newlywed’s love story is truly beautiful. They met on the internet back in 2020 through a super-exclusive dating app called Raya. We love a pandemic romance with a happy ending.
Things were going well a year later when the happy couple decided to hard launch their relationship to commemorate their anniversary. And we all swooned just under a year later when we found out that the couple were officially en-gay-ged.
After four years of dating and Abbi and Jodie are now officially married. They had a glorious wedding, which was thankfully documented for Cultured magazine. And yes, in case you’re wondering, their big day was just as cool and wholesome as you’d hope for this sapphic power couple.
Their ceremony took place at Public Records in New York. Unfortunately the rain meant they had to adapt their plans, but thankfully they had a flexible creative team. In the end, it all ended up feeling like it took place in a “different dimension”, which is what they were going for.
“It really was ‘one of those nights.’ We were in a dark wooden room with no windows, an insane sound system, and a disco ball. Everyone’s nice clothes became wet rags. People were smoking who don’t smoke. Our moms did the hora. It was like we all existed in a different dimension for a while,” Jodi shared.
Abbi explained that their first dance was to Aretha Franklin’s Don’t Let Me Lost This Dream and that her dress “destroyed Jo’s tights within 35 seconds”.
