Fans are speculating about a queer love story in series three after an interview with its showrunner Jess Brownell

Dear gentle reader,

It is with deepest delight that I pen these words to you in regard to the current whispers around the Ton, speculating over a certain new budding romance. Yes, tis true, it is the season of “Polin”, a long-awaited tangle of two members of opposing houses, one might liken it to a Shakespeare but I can assure you, there’s to be no tragic ending there. With Miss Penelope Featherington and Master Colin Bridgerton about to enrol themselves in a lustrous affair, it’s all anyone can talk about, but my dears, prepare yourselves for “Polin” is not the only love affair to buzz amongst the bees.

Whilst the ink still dries upon my parchment paper, I am bound by duty to tell my readers of another intriguing speculation – queer love.

Overhead at an interview with Gayety, Bridgerton’s new showrunner, Jess Brownell, let slip a juicy little apple slice of information that I must repeat to you now. A queer storyline could be coming out of the Ton’s closet and my hope is it’s going to be very queer female-heavy.

Lesbians in Bridgerton! What a delight that would be. It could undoubtedly add a new dynamic of interest, intrigue and excitement to the story.

But who could it be? Dear readers, I hear you cry. Well, let the gossip mill fire up as I theorise for you.

There’s a new blossoming friendship I see between Miss Eloise Bridgerton and Miss Cressida Cowper. Did all of their anger and hatred towards one another turn into burning want?

Jess Brownell herself was overheard saying, in regard to Miss Eloise, that “she’s going to learn a lot about herself, being friends with Cressida.”

Or how about the lovely Miss Francesca Bridgerton? Will she rebel against a future already expected of her? The book might have laid out marriage, babies and unrequited love, but can we expect a more exciting development for our young lady? I do have an inkling that our fine shows main producers do like to deviate from the norm… and deviate as they should.

Unlucky in love and in life, could The Baroness Portia Featherington look to rekindle the fire she undoubtedly has inside of her but with another fierce and fabulous woman? The possibilities are endless.

However, whether passion ignites between two women on our screens or it does not, we only live in hope that these mere whispers can come to fruition, defying convention, challenging the constraints of the past, embracing the diverseness in our world and lighting the way toward a brighter, bolder future, where love knows no boundaries.

Until we meet again, twix pen and paper, keep your theories gay and your hearts open.
