X Factor star Lucy Spraggan has announced that she will be tying the knot with her friend of 10 years Emilia Smith. In a sweet Instagram post, Lucy and Emilia shared photos with their rings looking completely loved up.

The pair met in 2013 but only became closer after Lucy got sober in 2019. In an interview with The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, Lucy revealed that the pair decided to get married on the flight to a holiday with none other than Simon Cowell. “On the plane, I don’t even know who said what, but I was like: ‘Let’s just get married!’ Both of us were like: ‘Yeah!’ It just made loads of sense,” she said.

In her exciting engagement announcement on Instagram, Lucy revealed how much their relationship had impacted her. She began her caption with the quote “When you know you know”. Following that she wrote: “That’s a phrase I really thought I understood throughout my life, that I believed I had a full appreciation of but…It wasn’t until I fell in love with my friend of 10 years that I truly felt it.”

She continued by saying: “I am so thankful that the universe gave me you, Emilia. I was immensely thankful when you were just my friend and I cannot begin to describe the gratitude I have to experience your love in a different way.”

Is someone cutting onions right now?!

Lucy also revealed that Simon Cowell would be walking her down the aisle. The pair have a long friendship, which has only strengthened over time. In publishing her memoir last year, Lucy revealed that she had been raped during her time on the X Factor. Afterwards, Simon Cowell apologised for the way the team had handled the situation at the time.

For Lucy, that apology was all part of her healing process. She told The Sun: “His apology healed a part of my being that I didn’t know needed healing.”

We are beyond happy for the pair, and we cannot wait to see their wedding pictures in June!
