While we may be stuck in this cold February, there is sunshine on the horizon! Manchester is gearing up for its iconic Pride Festival, a vibrant celebration that has become a cornerstone of the city’s cultural calendar. Tickets are officially on sale: manchesterpride.com/tickets
Mark your calendars for 23-26 August! The highlight of the festivities is the annual parade on 24 August, themed Buzzin’ To Be Queer – A Hive Of Progress. This powerful march through the streets of Manchester symbolises the enduring spirit of unity, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality.
CEO of Manchester Pride, Mark Fletcher, expressed excitement about this year’s theme: “We’re back this year with a theme that we feel will unite the people of Manchester and our visitors under the iconic symbol of the Manchester Bee. This symbol means so much to the city, demonstrating how Mancunians work hard to achieve great things and stand together in unity. Mancunians are proud to champion the city’s diverse communities and celebrate our differences.”
“This year we will celebrate our theme of ‘Buzzin’ To Be Queer – A Hive Of Progress’ and see the ‘Progress Bee’ become more than a symbol, instead becoming a call to action. It reminds us that, just like worker bees collaborating in a hive, LGBTQIA communities and their allies can achieve great things when we work together to influence change. It also symbolises the ongoing commitment to progress for LGBTQIA inclusivity and equality that Manchester Pride champions all year round.”
The events of Manchester Pride Festival 2024 are free to attend for everyone, with the exception of the Gay Village Party for which tickets will be available through Ticketmaster. Weekend tickets, priced at £37.50, contribute £2.50 to the Manchester Pride Community Fund, supporting LGBTQIA causes and projects in Greater Manchester.
To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, Manchester Pride offers various ticket options, including day tickets, weekend passes, low-income tickets, and family tickets.
The festival lineup includes the iconic Manchester Pride Parade, the lively Gay Village Party, the Candlelit Vigil, the Superbia Weekend, the thought-provoking Human Rights Forum, and inclusive events like Family Pride MCR and Youth Pride MCR.
