It’s been a big year for The xx’s Romy. She recently opened for Lil Nas X at the Montreux Jazz Festival and released her debut solo album, Mid Air. And for our October/November issue, the musician talked to DIVA about everything from her music and queer night clubs to finding love through five-aside football.
“A big part of this album is for my 16-year-old self” – Romy
In this interview, Romy discusses trans icon Beverly Glenn-Copeland – whose song, La Vita, is sampled on her song, Enjoy Your Life – and how inspiring it was to see him live. And just like the lyrics from Beverly’s song, Romy is truly enjoying her life.
DIVAs will get to read all about the epic love story between Romy and her wife, Vic Lentaigne. And yes, football plays a big part in it.
With her music and platform, Romy is bringing songs about queer love to the big stage, from Glastonbury to festivals around the world. We are so here for it.
“I’m ready to remove that barrier between my personal life and my music” – Romy
