It’s that time of year again. After a rather rainy summer, it doesn’t feel quite right that autumn has now arrived. As the evenings get shorter and the air gets a little chilly, it’s about time to start curating your perfect autumnal playlist.

Here are 10 artists who will help you acclimatise to the new season!

Arlo Parks

If you’re not jamming out to Arlo Parks this autumn, what are you doing? With tracks like Eugene and Paperbacks, Arlo has a song for every mood. Kicking leaves in the afternoon? Try Softly. Sitting at home while it rains? Listen to Cola. Need some dopamine now that the sun has hidden? Add Weightless to your listening queue.

girl in red

Considering that girl in red literally has a song called ā€œwe fell in love in octoberā€, there is nothing better than snuggling up in bed with a mug of hot chocolate listening to the Norwegian singer-songwriter. Other autumnal hits include ā€œi wanna be your girlfriendā€ and ā€œforget herā€.

Clairo

While Clairo definitely has some summer bangers, the American singer-songwriter has captured the essence of autumn in some of her hits. If you’re looking to get into your feels in the next few months, try adding Bags to your playlist.

beabadoobee

The Glue Song singer beabadoobee has brought us several hits since her breakout in 2020 with the track ā€œdeath bedā€. If you want to listen to some of her angelic voice this autumn, listen to Tired or Coffee.

Orion Sun

The Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Orion Sun has a special way of making your whole body relax. Songs like Mirage and Ne Me Quitte Pas are perfect for unwinding after a long day of navigating the wind and your battered umbrella.

Phoebe Bridgers

While I could fill most of my autumn playlist with Phoebe Bridgers’ songs, I’ll try to keep this brief. Autumn is Phoebe Bridgers. That crispness in the air as winter slowly creeps in? I’m pretty sure if it could sing it would scream The Gold. Wanting to get back with your ex so you can have someone to cuddle? Try listening to Moon Song. Feeling depressingly damp and soggy (both emotionally and physically)? Smoke Signals is probably the one for you.

Frankie Cosmos

If you’re looking for some more chill indie rock, check out Frankie Cosmos. Greta Kline, known by the stage name Frankie Cosmos, has some great tracks for all those long autumnal walks. Check out Sappho or Fruit Stand for some slower bops.

Leith Ross

Canadian singer-songwriter Leith Ross rose to fame on TikTok for their song We’ll Never Have Sex. In one line they can shatter your heart. If you’re feeling like having a sad autumn cry, try listening to I’d Have To Think About It or Orlando.

The Japanese House

If you’re looking for an artist to listen to as the rain pummels the bus you’re sitting on to commute home in the darkness, try The Japanese House. Tracks like ā€œi saw you in a dreamā€ and Still are perfect for feeling nostalgic and autumnal.

Ethel Cain

Preachers Daughter is a fantastic autumnal album to crank on full blast while you’re driving through piles of leaves. It was like it was made to be played when the nights are cold and the streetlamps glow slightly more orange than usual.
