It’s no secret that this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup is one of the gayest events in sporting history. A whopping 12% of the 736 players who competed identified as either lesbian, bisexual, queer or non-binary.

This queer joy can be seen in the celebratory snap that Spanish striker Alba Redondo’s girlfriend Cristina Monleón posted to Instagram of the pair snuggled up with the caption: “CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD. This is incredible! Thank you thank you and thank you ⭐️ I love you and I’m super proud of you.”

Alba commented back: “I already felt winner the day I met you ❤️ I love you 😊 This is your fault too!”

Our little sapphic hearts can’t take it!

Cristina also posted a selfie of her and Alba at the airport with the caption “It’s over”.

The pair have been bringing happiness to our screens throughout the tournament through moments such as their side-pitch smooch when Spain beat Zambia earlier this month.

Aren’t they just the cutest couple ever?
