From G Flip to High School Musical, here’s our guide to what came out this week

This week has seen the sun finally reappear after weeks of rain. However, the weather has not been the only thing that was hot this week. Brimming with new queer goodness to delve into, this week has been filled with sizzling hot releases.

Here at DIVA, we know that keeping track of all the new queer films, shows, music, and books can be tricky. That’s why we’ve compiled them all in a round-up for you to enjoy!

Everyone’s favourite Aussie rocker has just released their new album DRUMMER! Dropped this morning, get ready to jam to G Flip’s classic raspy voice. We just know that Chrishell is already bopping along to the tracks at home.

TV: High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season four

Released on 9 August, the fourth and final season of the mockumentary High School Musical: The Musical: The Series sees the return of some of our favourite characters. After coming out in season three, we cannot wait to see fan fave Ashlyn (Julia Lester) explore her identity even further.

MUSIC: Lucy Spraggan – Balance

There are so many new, queer, glorious albums coming out today! Lucy Spraggan has just dropped her highly anticipated seventh album Balance following the release of her memoir Process this year.

Lucy said: “This album is really a time capsule of the last decade and it starts right back with the song Everything Changes that samples the song Last Night which is what catapulted me into the public eye. It’s an album about perseverance and finding hope and keeping on moving forward. It intersects very much with my book Process. Really this whole album sort of outlines a different kind of process.”

BOOK: The Pirate and the Porcelain Girl by Emily Riesback and Nora J. Barna

A sapphic YA graphic novel about pirates? Sign us up! Cursed with porcelain skin and on the run from a zealous knight, Ferra is forced to trust pirate captain Brig to reunite her with her ex-girlfriend. But perhaps what she’s looking for is a little closer to home…

The electro-pop sensation BIG WETT is back with a new track DONT YOU WANT IT ALL which dropped today! The Aussie star has already brought us tracks like BAGS and NUMBER 1 PUSSY, and now she’s back again with some 90s-inspired bops to keep the summer vibes going.

FILM: Red, White & Royal Blue

It’s finally here. Casey McQuiston’s BookTok favourite novel Red, White & Royal Blue is finally making it to our screens. Released today on Amazon Prime, the story follows the secret love affair between the first son of the United States and a Prince. And guess what? Carmen from The L Word aka Sarah Shahi is starring in it. It truly is a feast of queer goodness.

Want to know more about the show? Check out our interview with Sarah Shahi in our August/September issue.
