Following the UK government’s unprecedented move to block Scotland’s progressive gender reform bill using section 35 of the Scotland Act, protests have taken place across the country. These have been led both by the trans community and vocal allies.

In Glasgow angry protestors took to the streets in their masses calling out the Tories for using trans people’s lives as political pawns. Powerful signage was seen around the city centre stating: “Defy Tory Rule”, “Sunak Sucks”, “Trans Rights Now”, “Love, Rage, Change” and more.

In Bristol protests followed on Sunday 22 January, starting at College Green, and carrying on into the city centre:

In London @mygenderation captured some of the protestors and their powerful messages to the Conservative government:

More action is planned across the UK, which you can get involved in. If you are Glasgow based follow @glasgow_trans_rally for updates. In Bristol @transrights.bristol also post regularly about how to take your part in protesting anti-trans legislation. Alternatively Stonewall are running a campaign to email local MPs, find out how to here.
