Congratulations are in order for boxer Nicola Adams and model Ella Baig, who have welcomed their first child – a baby boy – into the world. After announcing that they were expecting a child in February 2022, the pair became parents at 7am on Saturday morning, and we’re elated.

In a statement, Nicola revealed: “We are so excited to have welcomed our son into the world on Saturday morning at around 7am. Nothing prepares you for this moment in life but I am so overwhelmed with love and proud of Ella.” Adding in an interview with Hello Magazine, she commented: “We can’t wait to start this new chapter with baby Adams.” So. Cute.

In a joint Instagram post shared on Monday morning, the pair stated: “We are so excited to announce to the world that @babyadamsadventures has arrived. The first moment we laid eyes on you we felt an instant love and the strongest bond. We went to the moon and back to get you and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives watching you grow.”

Having been together for four years, the couple shared at the time of their initial announcement that they “couldn’t wait” for the baby to be born. The couple revealed that they have been trying to get pregnant for three years, having used Nicola’s egg and a sperm donor.

Ella shared that she was feeling the baby’s kicks early on, stating “I think it’s safe to say the baby is a fighter. It’s definitely an active baby. From about 17 weeks I was feeling kicks and whenever we went for a scan, I don’t even know what it was doing, perhaps backflips”, she laughed.

The couple had previously opened up about experiencing a miscarriage after their first round of IVF treatment in an exclusive with Vogue, expressing that “Unbeknownst to us, Ella went through her first rounds of IVF with an underactive thyroid which can dramatically impact the chances of having a healthy pregnancy.” Nicola shared, “I was really upset. Of course, we knew that there was a chance of it being unsuccessful, but it’s hard to see those two lines on a pregnancy test and feel elated before having that ripped from you just a few weeks later. I was also more upset for Ella as she was the one going through the process physically. You don’t really know what to say or do – you just have to be supportive.”
