Based in Crewe? We’ve got great news for you! LGBT+ Silver Pride will be taking place this Saturday 18 June, with Councillor Nan Walton, Mayor of Crewe, cutting the rainbow ribbon to officially commence this year’s celebrations. LGBT+ Silver Pride is an annual celebration of LGBTQI life and culture in Crewe designed specifically for the over 55s, with 2022 marking the fourth year of celebrations. Get excited!
The event will be hosted by Belong, the leading dementia specialist’s Brookhouse Drive care village, welcoming Crewe’s LGBTQI community for an afternoon of live entertainment, activities and dining.
There will be a fashion parade including prizes for the best dressed, music and dancing, face painting and LGBTQI-inspired art and poetry, as created by Belong Crewe’s residents and apartment tenants. Cheshire Constabulary and Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service will also be taking part, with the latter offering up the chance to take pictures with the famous pink fire engine. Beep beep!
LGBT+ Silver Pride brings local people and organisations together to provide a safe space for the LGBTQI community. The event has been made possible by Cheshire East Council’s Connected Communities strategy, supported by sexual health charity, Body Positive North Wales & Cheshire. Craft materials were donated by stationery retailer, Rymans, in the run-up to the event.
Experience Coordinator at Belong Crewe, Jess Butler, is coordinating this year’s event. She states: “We love Silver Pride; it brings out the best in everyone and we’re thrilled to be able to host the party, once again. Our customers are excited for the occasion and we’re looking forward to sharing with them and the community in the weekend’s festivities.”
Want to take part in the fun? Entry is free, but pre-booking is essential. Guests can contact village reception or call 01270 561200 to reserve tickets.
