The voice of M People joins our Lesbian Visibility Week celebrations

BY DIVA STAFF

Well known for her solo success and with the group M People, former DIVA cover star Heather Small is a worldwide icon who has been incredibly supportive of the DIVA Community over the past few months. We were all blown away by her performance for out Valentine’s event so thought we would ask her back to help us celebrate the DIVA Awards and DIVA Pride.

Heather Small said, “My love fest with DIVA continues and I am pleased to announce that I’ll be singing a few songs for the DIVA Awards and DIVA Pride. Come and join me!”

DIVA Publisher Linda Riley is over the moon that Heather will be performing: “Following the outstanding success of our February issue with Heather Small on the cover, we are so proud (excuse the pun!) to be announcing that she will be performing at the DIVA Awards and DIVA Pride. I’m particularly looking forward to Heather playing the hit song and LGBTQI anthem, Proud. Heather’s support of DIVA is quite amazing and we count ourselves very lucky to have her as an ambassador.”

This inaugural virtual awards ceremony taking place 29 April will play a huge role in the Lesbian Visibility Week programme for 2021 and is spearheaded by DIVA Media Group.

After postponing last year’s event due to the national UK lockdown, this year’s online celebration is set to be bigger and better than ever, even if we can’t celebrate together in person.

A series of major awards are up for grabs this year including Actor of the Year, Musician of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year and the coveted accolade of the DIVA Choice Award. Previous winners include Dodie Clark, Sandi Toksvig, Suranne Jones and Michelle Hardwick.

DIVA Pride takes place on Saturday 1 May and will be livestreamed through YouTube. Keep your eyes peeled for more information about who is performing in the coming weeks.
