If you haven’t already joined the DIVA Community, now is the perfect time. It’s our very own digital hangout space, created by us to bring the LGBTQI community closer together during these difficult days.
To keep us all entertained, we’ve launched our very own book club. Each month we’ll suggest a book by an LGBTQI author for all you literature lovers. There will be plenty of variety and something for everyone.
We’ll discuss each book in depth and even be joined by the author for an exclusive interview!
For our April instalment of the DIVA Book Club, we’ll be reading Sophie Ward’s Love And Other Thought Experiments. Sophie will be joining us live in the DIVA Community, Wednesday 5 May at 8pm, to share her insights and answer all your questions.
We’ll also be having an initial Book Club discussion before then, on Tuesday 27 April, so make sure you get involved.
Here’s a little more about this month’s fascinating book.
SYNOPSIS
Rachel and Eliza are planning their future together. One night in bed Rachel wakes up terrified and tells Eliza that an ant has crawled into her eye and is stuck there. Rachel is certain; Eliza, a scientist, is sceptical. Suddenly their entire relationship is called into question. What follows is a uniquely imaginitive sequence of interlinked stories ranging across time, place and perspective to form a sparkling philosophical tale of love, lost and found across the universe
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sophie Ward is an actor and writer who has worked in film and television since her feature film debut in Steven Spielberg’s Young Sherlock Holmes, and in theatre, most notably with the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow.
Sophie has been an active campaigner for LGBTQI rights and her non-fiction book, A Marriage Proposal, was published by the Guardian in 2014. Sophie’s novel Love And Other Thought Experiments was published in February 2020 by Corsair, and was longlisted for the Booker Prize 2020. The paperback was released on 6 August 2020.
