Our favourite sapphic songstress is back with new music and this time Marika Hackman is going down a new route. The new album Covers, will just feature covers of some of Marika’s favourite artists rather than any new tracks.

Along with the announcement, Marika shared her take on Grimes’ 2015 single Realiti. This first track is one of the 10 songs that will appear on Marika’s forthcoming album which is due for release 13 November.

Covers will also feature renditions of songs from the likes of Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Alvvays and Beyoncé.

Marika recorded and produced the album between her and her parents’ house whilst in lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Marika commented: “When it comes to covers, I like to pick songs which I have been listening to obsessively for a while. It gives me a natural understanding of the music, and lets me be more innovative with how I transform it.”

There will also be a full-band livestream performance of the album on the day of release on 13 November. Tickets will be available to fans who pre-order the album here.
