“Pitch perfect performances meet searing social and political commentary in this most festive of drag treats”

What a gift it was to spend the evening with the wonderful, London-based Pecs Drag Kings for their latest serving of queer cheer – the Christmas-flavoured, Pecsmas.

Taking inspiration from Mean Girls to It’s A Wonderful Life, our lord gayviour George Michael to East 17, the lovely Pecs lads will have you giggling like you’ve overdone it on the Bucks Fizz, while keeping it real as they tackle issues including toxic masculinity, homelessness and Christmas from a queer perspective.

But hey, don’t just take my word for it. DIVA’s Sophie Griffiths, Danielle Mustarde, Roxy Bourdillon and Carrie Lyell have got you covered…

Pecsmas – The Reviews

Sophie Griffiths, staff writer

“I’ve been waiting to see Pecs Drag Kings all year long and Pecsmas made it 100% worth the wait. I was obviously very well behaved this year to have this queer Christmas utopia come true before my eyes. You’ll come out of Pecsmas wishing every Christmas could be this gay – and that your milk is still in date when you get home…” [DIVA: You’ll understand once you’ve seen it]

Danielle Mustarde, senior staff writer

“This is the second time I’ve seen Pecs do their thang after baring (pun intended) witness to the really quite brilliant Sex Sex Men Men earlier this year. This time, at the end of what’s felt like a long few weeks, the lads had me gratefully loling all the way to the North Pole and back to The Yard Theatre where we sat snugly in rows, watching with wide eyes and even wider smiles. Proving that Christmas really is the gayest season of them all, what great medicine sparkling, thoughtful and sexy af drag can be.”

Roxy Bourdillon, managing editor

“I bow down to all the kings. Two personal highlights were Jodie Mitchell’s hilarious, heartwarming MC Santa and Lauren Steele as Thrustin Limbersnake, serving self-love with a side of squirty cream. A gorgeously queer night out for you and your chosen family. Merry Pecsmas indeed!”

Carrie Lyell, editor-in-chief

“I expected great things from Pecsmas, and boys, you delivered. Pitch perfect performances meet searing social and political commentary in this most festive of treats. Throw in those impressive packages and I’m throughly sleighed. While all of the Kings filled me with Christmas cheer, it was Thrustin Limbersnake who topped my tree in each and every number. I’m enthralled, I’m entertained, and leave The Yard Theatre having had my stocking well and truly stuffed. No rotten milk next time though, please.”

I think that’s a solid ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ out of five, people.

Pecsmas is on now at The Yard Theatre, Hackney Wick, London. For performance times and to book tickets visit theyardtheatre.co.uk – don’t wait, they’re hot potatoes these…
