Attendees at this year’s Stonewall Stand Up Sessions, sponsored by DIVA, were treated to quite the surprise yesterday evening when Nanette comedy megastar, Hannah Gadsby turned up as surprise headliner. [IKR?]

Hosted by the bloody wonderful Suzi Ruffell, the night included an all-women and non-binary line-up of the very best from the UK’s comedy scene, hot off the back of their successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

With comedy from Bethany Black, Kemah Bob, Jen Brister, Sophie Duker, Jessica Fostekew, Rosie Jones, Jodie Mitchell, Chloe Pettsand The Gadsby, the evening was a roaring one, full of top queer comedy bops, all while supporting Stonewall’s valuable work in the organisation’s 30th year.

Gadsby, who became an international star after her “comedy-breaking” Netflix special Nanette went, well, virally viral, is back in the UK on tour with her new show Douglas, a reflection on the last 24 months since Nanette dropped, as well as a exploration of American culture (Gadsby now lives in LA – watch out golfers, Gadsby is coming for you) and the comedian’s recent diagnosis with Autism.

DIVA publisher Linda Riley said of the evening, “DIVA magazine are delighted to sponsor the Stonewall Stand Up Sessions.

“The event has gone from strength to strength thanks to comedians like Suzi Ruffell, Jen Brister, Bethany Black and everyone else involved, all of whom work tirelessly to ensure this event is the ‘Not To Be Missed!’ of the LGBTQI and comedy calendar year.”
