An unmissable commentary on gender variance and violence

BY LIZI TRAFFORD

I had been wanting to see Burgerz ever since I heard about the London show – I’d seen Travis earlier this year and they were spectacular.

The show is based around the time when Travis was the subject of a transphobic attack when a burger was thrown at them.

Carefully curated, the set was a mixture of different sizes boxes within a wooden crate. Very fitting with one of the themes of the show, which asks why do we live on the binary, and insisting on putting people in boxes that just don’t fit.

The show was a commentary on gender variance and violence, questioning why the two often go hand in hand.

Extremely hard hitting but with hilarity in parts, Travis made me realise even more that we need to stand together, stand up and be trans allies, not passers by.

Travis’s run at Edinburgh is nearly over but you can catch them on tour later on this year, and I implore you to do so!
