Thinking about starting a family using donor sperm? Not sure where to start or who to turn to? Then this Facebook group might just be for you.
Facebook Group, Family Dreams, is a space created to connect with other women who have also considered fertility treatment with donor sperm or with women who have already conceived donor children and who wish to share their experience.
It really is the (digital) place to be if you have any questions on the topic.
Who are the members?
The group started in March 2018 and now has over 1900 members. There are more than 500 posts and 7000 comments in the group, as members have been very active from the beginning.
Group members are mostly women from all over the world, but primarily members are from the UK, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and Denmark.
Importantly, these women are all at different stages in their journey towards motherhood – some of them already being proud mothers to donor-conceived children.
What do they talk about?
Group members post a lot of different questions, things like – what kind of donor sperm to order for the different kinds of fertility treatments, recommendations on different fertility clinics, tips on how to get pregnant faster, ovulation, different kinds of pregnancy tests, legislation, other people’s experience having donor-conceived children and lots more.
Members also use the group to share pictures of ovulation tests, pregnancy tests and of course – their beautiful babies!
