Rebel Wilson stars in a new heartfelt film The Almond And The Seahorse which has hit UK cinemas today (10 May). The Pitch Perfect icon is joined on screen by the likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Trine Dyrholm in this emotional film which explores life after a traumatic brain injury.

Based on a play of the same name, The Almond And The Seahorse follows two couples as they navigate life with traumatic brain injuries. Love is the only thing that keeps them going, but what happens when you wake up each day forgetting the ones you love most?

Rebel Wilson plays Sarah who is learning to grapple with love amid the tangled threads of memory loss and emotional upheaval. As she confronts the uncertainties of an altered reality, the film eloquently probes the human capacity for resilience and the pursuit of hope beyond the shadows of the past.

This film marks a landmark moment for Rebel as it features her first onscreen kiss with a woman since her coming out in 2022.

Speaking about the film Rebel said: “I’m so proud of this great gem of a film that dives into the important subject of traumatic brain injury. It’s such a departure for me artistically after having done mainly commercial comedy films in America, it was a challenge to do something so very different, but I just adored working with Cel and Charlotte, Trine and Meera on this beautiful piece. I can’t wait for UK audiences to see it in May.”

You can watch The Almond And The Seahorse in cinemas now.
