Curious about squirting? Here’s a sapphic-friendly beginner’s guide with everything you need to know!
What even is squirting, and can everyone do it?
Squirting is when someone with a vagina releases a noticeable amount of fluid during sexual arousal or orgasm. The fluid usually comes from the urethra and is a mix of water, urine and natural gland secretions.
Many people think that squirting is the same thing as having a G-spot orgasm, and while they often happen around the same time, this is not always the case.
It’s also important to know that not everyone with a vagina experiences squirting. A Swedish study from 2024 found that 58% of the 1,568 women aged 18-69 reported having experienced female ejaculation and/or squirting. An American study from 2023 found that 40% of the women in the sample reported having squirted at least once in their lifetime.
That said: some try their whole life without ever managing to squirt. However, most can have a G-spot orgasm, and these seven expert tips are great for those wanting to orgasm from G-spot stimulation!
First thing’s first, you’ve got to learn to relax
It’s almost impossible to squirt without being really horny and relaxed. Being in an environment with a partner (or riding solo) that makes you feel safe and able to let go of all thoughts for a while is key. It also hleps to spend lots of time on foreplay, as being turned on increases the chances of reaching all the way.
Find your G-spot
Squirting happens from G-spot stimulation. You find the sensitive G-spot on the front wall of the vagina, a few centimetres inside. I would describe it as slightly firmer and more textured than the surrounding area. You’ll know when you’ve found it by getting a pleasurable feeling when stimulating it.
It can be quite tricky to find the G-spot at first, and my best advice is to take it very slowly and begin finding it in your own company by using your fingers and carefully adjusting the angle and pressure. This means that later on can guide a potential partner on how to stimulate you.
Do the “come here” movement when stimulating the magic spot
If stimulating your G-spot with your fingers, or if stimulating your partner, do the “come here” movement, either with one or two fingers, at the same time as you put some pressure on it.
Using the right sex toys will help
Due to the G-spot’s location, it can be tricky to stimulate it pleasurably for the time it can take to squirt, especially using just your fingers. This is why I recommend everyone who’d like to maximise their chances of squirting to invest in either a manual G-spot wand, a rabbit dildo or a G-spot vibrator.
Great sex positions for squirting
Missionary is great both for masturbation and strapping, especially with a pillow under the lumbar spine as that creates an angle where the dildo, finger or other sex toy stimulates the G-spot more directly.
If you want to squirt during strapping or when using a suction cup dildo, then get yourself in doggystyle and slightly arch your back until you find a position where the G-spot gets stimulated.
Cowgirl is great as the person on top can adjust the penetration so the G-spot gets stimulated perfectly, whether or not it’s during strapping or solo sex.
Pro tip: stand on your feet and go slightly back and forth instead of sitting on your knees and going up and down!
Slowly build up the intensity
For most, reaching all the way to squirting takes time, so begin with careful and gentle stimulation, and then slowly build up the intensity by adding a quicker tempo and more pressure. Don’t be afraid of holding the same pace for a long time. This tends to build up the squirting in an effective way.
When it feels like you’re about to pee your pants — don’t fight it
When this happens, you know you’re close. This is where most sapphics do it wrong, as they fight back the feeling, but do the opposite: embrace it, and let the liquid flow. You can even try to push a little bit.
What’s the sapphic appeal?
Queer women enjoy squirting for many reasons! It can feel liberating to let go and let the body react so explosively. It can be sexy to feel and see the liquid. One can like the taste or that it gets wet, for example, if wearing panties. Many enjoy the climax that oftentimes comes before, during or after squirting. Some love the intimacy it creates with yourself or a partner during sex, and others love how relaxed they get after.
So it’s a very explosive, intense and sexy moment that’s completely unique and exciting. Exploring it as a sapphic is an amazing way of enriching your sex life, no matter if you end up squirting or not.
