DIVA caught up with this Aussie superstar about life lately, their upcoming tour and Bed On Fire

Amazon Prime’s latest ice hockey romcom series Off Campus had a monumental impact on pop culture overnight. It became the platform’s third most-watched debut season ever, drawing in 36 million viewers globally. It brought a whole new crowd to the game of ice hockey. It inspired countless TikTok trends and led to bookstores everywhere selling out of Elle Kennedy’s book of the same name.

But one particular scene, which involved a rather raunchy montage, changed everything for Australian singer G Flip. Their song Bed On Fire was used to commemorate this key moment in the show, leading to viral fame overnight for the track. Now, G is no stranger to a viral moment. Their cover of Taylor Swift’s song Cruel Summer took the internet by storm in 2024, and their Halloween costumes with Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause always leave the internet impressed.

However, the fallout from Off Campus was bigger than anything G had seen before. We catch up just before G starts their latest tour, and it’s clear that the reaction from fans is still just as intense. “It was crazy. Every day, it was getting bigger and bigger. It’s still crazy right now. It’s been a wild little ride,” G laughs.

Since the show aired, G has actually met with the cast of the show to celebrate its success. G even asked the cast to tattoo their leg, because “what better way to commemorate this whole little chapter in my life than getting the awesome cast to whack some ink on my thigh.”

G wasn’t the only queer artist featured on the show’s tracklist. Songs from artists like Nxdia and Remi Wolf were all used at key points during the show. “There wasn’t much queer representation on the show, but that playlist was queer as fuck,” G explains. “It highlights these artists who might have only been found in queer pockets. Me and Nxdia had a call this weekend about how lucky we are and how crazy it is.”

2026 has been a strange year for LGBTQIA+ people everywhere, with both incredible highs and lows. What message does G have for LGBTQIA+ people right now? “To all queer people, be exactly who you are. Don’t worry about the noise. Just be authentically yourself. You’re not alone. We only have this one life.”

Pretty soon, G will be heading across the world for their Bed On Fire Tour. One of those venues is London’s iconic Moth Club, where G will be performing for two nights. “I love a packed room with a sweaty vibe. I can’t wait. My shows have always been a very safe space. I want it to feel like a chosen family. Everyone’s accepting of everyone. It’s just full of love. I always set out to create a space where everyone can be exactly who they want to be, dress how they want to dress, sing, dance!”

With all eyes on G, the future has never seemed so bright. I ask what cameo part they’d want in season two of Off Campus. “Driving a Zamboni or an untrained figure skater vibe or maybe I could clean the hockey sticks!”

I also suggest that their iconic Halloween costume with Chrishell this year has to feature at least one Off Campus reference. “Chrishell would make a great Garrett!” G smiles.
