The next instalment of the book-to-screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, The House Of The Dragon (HOTD), is coming out this summer, and fans are eager to return to the world of Westeros. One thing’s for sure, this prequel to Game Of Thrones will continue to have high stakes, epic battles and lots of bloodshed. Season three is set to pick up right where season two left off. Viewers can expect an all-out war filled with fire-breathing dragons.

The show has also provided visibility for LGBTQIA+ viewers. Firstly, one of the show’s leads is non-binary icon Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen. Ever since the show first aired, fans have shipped Rhaenyra with her former bestie-turned-mother-in-law, Alicent Hightower. Bethany Antonia is also an openly queer actor who plays Baela Targaryen in the show. HOTD has also delivered an MLM romance, even though it did end in tragedy. When season two of HOTD came out in 2024, queer viewers were treated to an unscripted sapphic kiss. Season two also saw Abigail Thorn join the cast as the cutthroat pirate Sharako Lohar, who has many wives. Abigail’s character will have a significant role to play in the third instalment.

Coming up, let’s dive into everything you need to know about the upcoming third season.
