With summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time to dive into new music. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite sapphic singers that should all be on your radar.
Joy Oladokun
Joy Oladokun (she/they) is a singer-songwriter from Arizona. Raised singing with their church and inspired by Tracy Chapman to learn the guitar, following college they moved to Los Angeles to pursue their music career. Cathedrals, their debut EP was released in 2015. Since then, they have released five studio albums and have collaborated with indie giants Christ Stapleton and Noah Kahan. Their songs span genres, touching on pop, rock, R&B, and folk. In 2024, they opened for Hozier on his Unreal Unearth tour. Joy is gender-nonconforming and “not totally in the binary”. In 2024, they married their partner, Rachel Wein, sharing glimpses of their life on social media.
Jamee
Jamee Lockard (she/her) was one member of the six-piece indie-pop band, Michelle. Together, the band released two EP’s and three acclaimed albums until they announced their indefinite break in August 2025. Since then, Jamee has been releasing songs as an independent solo artist. Produced by Maya Polsky and Nick Catrambone, her debut EP, Crawling Out The Deep End, is a five-song collection of queer pop at its finest, showcasing her introspective songwriting, lush production, and a bold step into her own distinct artistic identity. “It’s an unapologetically queer project,” Jamee explained on her social media. “The EP became a time capsule of my queer firsts, it will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Olive Klug
Raised in Portland, Olive Klug (they/them) grew up performing musical theatre and learning the guitar. After pivoting from a career in social work, their first EP, Fire Alarm, was released in 2019. They gained widespread popularity through TikTok videos, with songs like Raining in June and Coming of Age. Their songs are a soft blend of existentialism and pop, often exploring themes of identity, change, and the complexities of navigating the world around us.
Ludmilla
Ludmila Oliveira da Silva (she/her) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro. Her songs are a mix of samba, pop, and R&B. Since her debut in 2014, she has released eight albums to critical acclaim. 2020 saw her become the first Afro-Latin American female musician to reach one billion streams on Spotify and her Numanice album won a Latin Grammy for Best Samba/Pagode Album in 2022. She is bisexual, marrying her wife, Brunna Gonçalves, in 2019. She has become a prominent advocate for LGBTQIA+ representation in Brazil.
Rachel Bochner
Based in New York City, Rachel Bochner (she/her) began her journey in the music industry through an internship at a record label, where she discovered her passion for creating and sharing her own music. Since then, she has focused on songwriting, shaping a unique brand of indie pop that feels like the soundtrack to your very own coming-of-age movie. In 2021, she released her debut EP, 2am, closely followed by her first full-length album, Lovergirl, in 2024. Her music blends atmospheric production with emotionally driven lyrics, exploring themes of love and relationships.
