Netflix has announced that they have signed a deal with Warner Bros Discovery to license all six seasons of Sex And The City. Variety has confirmed they will debut as early as April 2024.

For those of you who haven’t had the chance to watch the iconic series, the story follows Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), a New York writer, whose columns are inspired by the emotional and humorous exploits of her friends and lovers.

The series lasted six years from 1998-2004. It starred the likes of Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall, and was created by Darren Star who adapted the idea from Candace Bushnell’s books.

The deal will not be distributed worldwide but will be available in the US and several other European countries, sources have said. The handover to the streaming service will allow for a whole new generation to watch the fun-loving and heart-warming story unfold.

LGBTQIA audiences were thrilled when Sex And The City created the spin-off of the show And Just Like That which came out in 2022. Audiences got to follow Charlotte’s youngest child Rock, previously known as Rose, explore their gender identity. As well as this, we were introduced to the character Che Diaz, the bisexual and non-binary comedian who kicks off Miranda’s queer awakening.

Sara Ramirez, who plays Che, has recently hinted that the beloved queer character might not be returning for the third season of And Just Like That, but nothing has been set in stone.

It was confirmed this week that the craze for Sex And The City has not fizzled out over the years, with Bradshaw’s iconic opening scene tutu being sold at auction for over $50,000. So you better start thinking up snack ideas, as it seems in the coming months we will all be binge-watching the iconic series once again!
