DIVAs, it’s finally happened! We’ve got our second-ever same-sex couple in the Love Island franchise. Fans of the new international all-stars edition of the show were screaming with queer joy when Megan Barton Hanson and Kyra Green coupled up.

Both Megan and Kyra came out as bisexual after their respective Love Island seasons and have been firm fan favourites throughout the new show Love Island Games. Having watched the pair flirt in previous episodes, it only seemed logical that the pair gave love a real shot by coupling up together.

Love Island has only ever seen one same-sex coupling before now on the 2016 UK series. Katie Salmon and Sophie Gradon made history by choosing each other in a show which has often been critiqued for being incredibly hetronormative.

“I want to couple up with this person because coming into the villa, I feel like right off the bat, I kinda had a genuine connection with them,” Kyra said in her re-coupling speech to Megan. “It was just so easy to talk to them and just felt like something, I feel like I could see over time turning maybe into something. So the person that I would like to couple up with is… Megan.”

Fans were quick to notice the huge smile on Megan’s face after Kyra called out her name. After coupling up, fans everywhere took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their delight in this new pairing.

“Bisexuals are smiling,” one fan commented alongside a clip of the pair after the re-coupling.

We cannot wait to see where this pairing goes!
