Dover Pride will march into its fifth year on 26 August, promising a vibrant spectacle that embraces the LGBTQIA community and its allies. This annual event has evolved into a pivotal celebration, with more than a thousand participants converging upon the Dover town centre.
Dover Pride stands as a symbol of inclusion, self-expression, acceptance, community, activism, representation, safe space, and celebration, forging connections among individuals who have faced challenges in expressing their true selves.
The festivities this year will span over two stages with an exclusive ticketed Evening After Party, ensuring a day brimming with entertainment. The music lineup boasts talents like Amrick Channa from X-Factor and The Voice, dance ensemble Haus Of Heels, and TikTok sensation Sophia Stardust.
“I came out last year and all my friends are straight,” one Dover Pride goer said. “Pride makes me feel like I’m not alone. I don’t know where else I can meet others so it’s an opportunity for that too. I attended with my family so it’s special.”
“I think Dover pride is extremely important. I’ve personally experienced many hate crimes in Dover, so I think the Dover community needs to be more educated.”
The procession will take pride-goers on a route from Maison Dieu Gardens through the market square to Roman Lawn, parading through the heart of Dover. Those marching are encouraged to register through Eventbrite and gather at Maison Dieu Gardens from 9 am to 10:30 am.
For those seeking to extend the festivities, the After Party, now in its inaugural year, welcomes attendees aged 14 and older (accompanied by an adult) to continue the celebration on Roman Lawn from 7 pm to 10 pm. Additionally, the After Dark party (18+) will unfold at The Attic Bar and NightClub.
Tickets for the After Party are available to buy here.
