The countdown commences as we inch closer and closer each day to Heartstopper season two which comes out on 3 August. Netflix clearly knew that we were missing our much-needed dose of queer joy when they released the trailer for season two yesterday (25 July).
Oh, Heartstopper how we’ve missed you.
After the slow-burn romance between Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) in season one, this new season sees the pair navigating their relationship while Nick is still not officially out. Oh, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg…
We nearly screamed with delight when we saw Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) snuggled up in sapphic bliss in the trailer. However, it appears that there might be some trouble in paradise as Darcy doesn’t quite know how to show the emotions that Tara wants to see.
The trailer sees Tara proclaiming her love to an uncomfortable-looking Darcy (yikes). Later on in the trailer Tara even says to Charlie: “I’m jealous of you and Nick in some ways – you talk about your feelings.”
Oh and if that wasn’t enough, everyone’s favourite wing woman Elle (Yasmin Finney) has finally acknowledged the huge crush that she has on her best friend Tao (William Gao)!
While there is still the signature Heartstopper happiness throughout the trailer, it’s clear that this season will also see some of our favourite couples deal with complications in their relationships. Throw in a trip to the city of love – Paris – and we cannot wait to see where this season goes.
So in the closing words of the trailer: “You’re being gay…Good job! Carry on.”
If you’re desperate for some more Heartstopper content, pre-order our August/September issue now which features the fantastic Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell on the cover!
