“I think that everyone could learn from being at Pride because it is about being yourself and being free. I always feel that you get the best of people there”

If you’re looking for a day out to celebrate Pride and be by the seaside, Margate Pride 2023 has you covered. Taking place on 12 August, this year’s Margate Pride is being headlined by B*Witched, Claire Richards and Duncan James amongst other amazing acts.

Edele Lynch, lead singer of the Irish girl supergroup B*Witched, can’t wait for Margate Pride. She told DIVA: “We’re really looking forward to it. We love playing the Pride events. Everyone is up for an amazing time.”

“I love Pride. I love how confident people are now to be themselves. I think that everyone could learn from being at Pride because it is about being yourself and being free. I always feel that you get the best of people there. I’m thrilled that they invite us along there to celebrate with them.”

Hosted by River Medway, this jam-packed day also will see the likes of UK Garage royalty Lisa Maffia as well as Jonbers, Just May, Le Fil, and the incredible Tom Rasmussen. Kimberley Wyatt of Pussycat Dolls will even be bringing her phenomenal brand new show Don’t Cha Disco to Dreamland’s Hall By The Sea venue.

In a time where LGBTQIA rights feel threatened by the actions of those in power, events like Margate Pride are vital for showing the power of the queer community. “It still amazes me in this world that anybody has to shout for their god given rights because they’re LGBTQIA,” Edele said. “It’s backwards to me, I just don’t understand it. My uncle growing up always had a boyfriend, so ever since we were tiny it was normal to us.”

“I can’t believe that we’re still fighting for things like this in 2023. Can’t we just get on with it now people?! Let’s just celebrate life and each other. Everyone should be allowed to be unique in their own way without being questioned.”

B*Witched will also be celebrating 25 years since their number one single Rollercoaster…right next to the UK’s oldest wooden rollercoaster!

“Here at Margate Pride we are super excited about the line up at Dreamland for 12 August,” said Amy Redmond from Margate Pride. “It’s always such a beautiful day in Margate, with the whole town coming together to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ family, and our wonderfully welcoming town. We look forward to seeing everyone on the dancefloor in a denim two piece as the sun sets and we get down to B*Witched!”

The doors will open at 5pm, and tickets are online now. Click here to find out more!
